Jordan: Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO)

In Jordan desalination of inland brackish water is the main source for agricultural water and drinking water production. These facilities rely on oil based energy and brines are disposed of on land which may impact food production and local water quality. To cope with the increasing demand in the future, desalination facilities need to increase their capacity while maintaining or reducing the energy consumption.

In BWRO plants is key to the financial and environmental sustainability of the process, to maximize the production capacity (and thus minimizing the brine discharge) of the plant while optimising energy consumption.
